Smörgåsbord

A Smörgåsbord is some sort of scandinavian buffet. This Smörgåsbord is just a bunch of picture from the last month of so, since I've been neglecting the Evans blog. Well a sick Saturday for me means a new blog for the world. Life is good. :)
So last month we went to see Cass Mccombs. If anyone happened to be at our wedding you'll remember Tyler surprised me and sung me Dream Come True Girl by Cass Mccombs. So romantic! Seriously, and it was fun to go to our first show down at Kilby Court, which is now just around the corner from our house.  It was a great show!

If you've been to Kilby this is a familiary picture. Blurry and back lit. Cass kept asking them to turn the lights down more and more. This is the best picture that we got, but I found beauty in its blurriness.

Tyler buying his ticket as Kilby. Niether of us had been here in quite some time. Unfortunately we looked like quite the newbies when we showed up to the show on time (not realizing how quick the walk would be...) not to mention we never got the memo that the show would be starting an hour later. Finally, after an Alberto's breakfast burrito, we  got to go in.

This is Frank Fairfield. He opened for Cass. He was A M A Z I N G! He is way past his time. I felt like I was in the south on some porch while Frank played the violin, banjo and guitar. And his voice and lyrics. He started crying and tears were falling down his face.  I've never seen a crowd so instantly accepting of something so completely foreign. The lights were brighter for him, but he also wouldn't stop moving and pounding his foot (not complaining) but again, left it hard to get a clear picture.

Why are we so happy? Because it's VALENTINES DAY! Valentines 2012 was not only our first Vday together, but the first one for both of us to have someone special. Therefore, we aren't professionals. Tyler woke me up and couldn't wait to give me my first gift, windshield wipers. Which for me is as romantic as any bouquet!

For dinner we went to Asian Star. (another blurry photo!? geez, i'm sorry people, I hate to use the flash on my camera. I think that blurriness looks better than a flash sometimes, maybe this photo is pushing it though.) Anyway...about Asian Star. That was delicious! Can you say walnut shrimp? Holy smokes! I can still remember its goodness, all these weeks later. However, Vday is nuts!

Why are we so happy? O that's because we are back at USU cheering on the Aggies. It was great game. I've talked up those games to Tyler for ages. He was impressed by the crowd (if you havent experienced a game in The Spectrum you just wont understand, youtube it!) However, we were down, I believe 15, and it wasn't lookin so good. Until...na na na naaaa! We totally came back and won by 13. The crowd went wild as per usual, and I believe Tyler has been converted to Aggieism.
Did I mention Ash and Justin and Lexie joined us for the ride up? It was a sisters party. Cassi was so stoked! PS those glasses are mine and Lexies old "band outfit" from our old band.
Tyler is getting into the game....so is the crowd.

Glasses friends.

Hey fellas. Look at all these single ladies. I've got the hookups for ya. Left to right, Megan, Lexie, Cassi, and Sam. The waiter of this evening is your new competition though.
O and also, we drank about 30 sodas.... Thank you firehouse pizza! And thank you Ashley and Justin for dinner!

IT'S NOT OVER YET! Are you still with me, here comes some more pictures...
The Rose side of the family threw me the most delicious brunch/shower ever! Peaches n Cream baked french toast.

We have 8:30 AM church. Its about the most faith trying thing so far for us.  Considering Tyler works Mon-Sat, it is his only day off and he gets to wake up bright n early. As pictured, he might have trouble staying awake sometimes. Last week, it was stake conference and since we live downtown it is held at Assembly Hall on Temple Square. It was finally a day we could sleep in EXCEPT we had joined the ward choir, so we were still there at 8:30 rehearsing. It was fun though. We do a great rendition of
Hold to the Rod.

I will post this as my picture proving I cook. Well sometimes. I made some stuffed peppers. I thought they tasted amazzzzing, and Tyler ate his fare share so I think he agrees. Unfortunately, this picture is before I popped them into the oven and not after when they looked even better. I love cooking. I wish I had more time. Its fun to make something for someone to enjoy. Luckily my Tyler enjoys just about anything.
Whitney left on her mission. :( She has worked long and hard to get there. She is amazing and has showed all of us up in life. We had a nice sisters night just before she left. Stayed at a hotel, stuffed our faces first at the Blue Lemon and later with candy as we laughed all night. This is our morning picture, and my favorite, not only because I'm front n center, but because it's 100% candid and everyone looks so happy! More pictures of sisters night, can be seen on Ashley's blog

Well, smorgasborg is over. I should really keep up on this blog ya?

Happy Birthday to Tyler!

Woo! Tyler is 28 now, so strange!
Tyler recently had his birthday. Unfortunately, I didn't snag any pictures of a bundle of his friends that had gone to the wrong bowling alley by mistake and just ended up playing games over there and THEN stopping by. We went to El Meno's for dinner while waiting to bowl at Bonwood. I guess with the "tough economy" lots of people like bowling @ 3 games + shoes for only $9. It's our favorite bargain. So yeah, El Menos = best taco's I've had besides the ones from Ensenada! It was a bit quite a bit different than, you know, cafe rio, del taco, rubios, or any of the usual places us Utahns go to get mexican food, but it was GREAT! I highly recommend it!

We ate there while we waited for the longest wait ever at the most excellent bowling alley. Later that week we went to a Jazz game, courtesy of my parents.  One perk of being married: getting to reap the benefits of gifted tickets to the husband.
NOOOOOW! Time for some pictures!

Tylers buddy Richard and his wife Marika (I surely spelled that wrong!) I always thought Richard was one of his "mission" friends the way Tyler would talk about him, turns out he's just a friend from childhood. And to the right, of course, our friends the Kunz's!

Tyler with his wife....Tyler with his Tyler

Aface & Jess-E, and the crew from Ty's old singles ward. Ben, Amada, Iris and "Estevan!" Estevan is my greatest competition for Tylers love. O yes, and Alayna is back there too, fitting right in.

I'm amazed we've stayed friends after all these years. Key to our lasting friendship: road trips!

So this picture was up on the wall, and we thought it was the "story of our lives"

Eh Eh? See the resemblence? To the last picture....We tried, but our photographer had no idea was we were trying to accomplish.

Most of the group. Aface, Cole, Tyler, Jessi, Amanda, Ben, Iris, Estevan, Cole's friend (sorry, I don't know his name) me and Tyler.

I got to experience my first Jazz game with Tyler. He didn't have a voice for the rest of the week. My husband is a MAD JAZZ FAN! I told him he could yell and cheer as much as he wanted as long as he didn't get in any fights. We had a row of Maverick fans behind us. The Mavs won :( It was an awesome game though!

Waiting to watch prizes...soooooo close!

And that's all! Life is going gooood. Just trying to survive school & work and keep our house clean at the same time.

Honeymoon in Cabo!

Our Honeymoon was supposed to be a surprise for myself (court) but I'm SOOO SMART that I guessed it about a week before we left. Actually, I'd guessed many places, but Tyler and his inability to tell a lie couldn't lie when I guessed CABO SAN LUCAS! We went on a Mexican Riviera cruise out of LA down to Cabo (we got 2 days in cabo!) and then one day in Ensenada. We went over New Years to not conflict with school and it was wonderful. PLUS New Years Ever on a cruise is WAY more fun than any party I've ever been invited too. (Sorry people!) We had no homework or anything to worry about. We just cruised away and drank way too many mocktails. Here's Some of our photos.
Waiting in the airport...We had to leave at like 6AM. Hence why we look like we just woke up. However, that will be a continuing theme throughout the pictures.
Our first night on the cruise was New Years Eve. Everyone was DOWN TO PARTY! We were SOOO tired waiting for those freaking balloons to fall! We went to bed like 5 minutes after they dropped.
The balloons dropped and we both had our first new years kisses. A year ago our friends encouraged us to kiss on new years but we were both too chicken/weren't really interested.
So there's not a port in Cabo for the big ships so we had to come in on little tenders. Here we are in the corner of our crowded tender.  Super fun, I think Tyler was starting to get sea sick!
Chilin in cabo. My hair looked pretty good at the beginning of this day. By the time our mini tour cruise was over, my hair was in a million knots. Also, these $20 sunglasses (fyi I never spend more than like $5 on sunglasses) dropped and broke right after I burned my mouth on LITERALLY the HOTEST SALSA EVER! Turns out it was restaurant policy to warn about that salsa but our careless waiter forgot. DON'T taste the salsa that looks like Cafe Rio dressing, it'll ruin your meal and mouth for at least 3 hours.
Here we were getting ready to go our on our little tour cruise of cabo, which turned into a whale watching tour that we didn't pay for. As did our pirate cruise, which the pictures are on a disposable camera, which may or may not ever get developed! Also, LOTS OF CRABS!
There's lovers rock for ya! Its hard to get a picture without a million little water taxies driving all the tourists around it. The other side is probably a little more famous.
Walking around cabo, getting hustled.
Lovers Arc rock thing again. Our ship was parked and for 2 days we had the view of the rock the entire time off our amazzzzing balcony. Everywhere we went they had "glass bottomed boats" that would water taxi you around the island. Our water taxi ROCKED because he started throwing stuff into the water and all the fish came as he shouted "look look! mexican nemo!" yeah, he got a pretty sweet tip!
Sting ray jumping in the water...tyler enjoying the boat ride.

I think this "sex machine" boat is a tourist favorite to take pictures of. We preferred the "glass bottomed boats" ourselves.

Some whale sightings on our boat/cruise/tour thing. These pictures don't look that exciting, but we were FREAKING out and soooo pumped to see the water spray out and the tail and everything. I have about 20 more pictures like these.
I was SO excited when I saw Kitty Glitter! Right before Jessi got married we went down to Mesquite and had dinner at the Purple Fez and after she gambled like $.25 and won twenty dollars when I helped her pick the Kitty Glitter machine Read all about that here: on Jessi's blog

Miniature golfing on the ship.  Courtney won.
This was one of my favorite moment! We orded mocktails the first time and Tyler was hesitant to get the "choco-CO banana" one because it had coconut milk in it, so he got the one with mango juice instead. When they came out he was SO bummed when he saw mine.  We shared, and, long story short, he had choco-co bananas every day even at breakfast on the morning we left the ship.

Enjoying mocktails...Tyler with his choco-co banana and me with a pina colada.

In Ensenada. This place was actually my favorite. Not sure why, maybe because I love the sweet leather bag I got or the amazing tacos (seriously, amazing!) Here we are on a bus on our way to El Bufadora? aka The Blowhole!
My second pair of sunglasses, a third pair for the trip. We'd shortly be purchasing tylers second pair since his pair from Cabo also broke. We had bad sunglasses luck!

Kissing at El Bufadora, I didn't really get any good pictures of it exploding. Just a video.

Being tourists, this should be at the beginning, it's right when we got to cabo and I still had my big sunglasses.

Ensenada Sunset
So there you have it. Our belated honeymoon. I've never been on a honeymoon right after I got married, but I totally thought that this was the perfect way to do it. Wedding stress and school stress were totally done and over and we enjoyed every second, except the salsa that tried to kill me. This ended up being a lot more photos than I intended!
